Excursion trip to Ambo.
A.M, drive to west of Addis Ababa to Ambo, passing the Gefersa Dam, situated between hills and valleys to some 22 km west of Addis Ababa. At 55kms you will reach the town of Addis Alem. You stop here to visit the church of Debre Tsion Mariam. It is one of the prominent historic churches. Indian and American architects originally built the church as a palace for Emperor Menilik II. Later on the Emperor along with gifts and articles of historical significance, converted to a Church. Then after you continue to Ambo town situated 125 Kms west of Addis Ababa. Ambo is famous for its hot springs and mineral water. Proceed to the picturesque Lake Wanchi 25 km south west of Ambo. You will cross the lake on small boat to visit the nearby church of Kirkos and spend some time around the lake. Then drive back to Addis via Woliso. Overnight Ghion Hotel or Similar.
